Aged Care Fee CheckFor Australian families · Costs in AUD

About this site

Last updated 5 October 2026

Simple, free calculators for Australian families exploring the costs of residential aged care (nursing homes).

Aged care fees are hard to follow, and the rules changed completely on 1 November 2025. This site turns the Australian government's published formulas into plain-English answers, so families can get a realistic number in a couple of minutes without signing up or handing over contact details.

How the calculators work

Every calculator uses the formulas and worked examples published by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, and the rates from its schedule of fees and charges. All figures sit in one shared rates file, so every page updates together.

The calculators cover residential aged care in Australia. All amounts are in Australian dollars (AUD).

How often figures are updated

Fees and thresholds are updated after each indexation on 20 March and 20 September. The interest rate used for daily room payments is updated each quarter. The current rates are on the 2026 fees and thresholds page.
